Salient has Talent Operations Centers (TOCs) in Fairfax, Virginia; San Diego, California; and Tampa, Florida. These centers exist as a result of significant internal investment, the application of state of the art technologies, with dedicated and focused resources. Salient TOCs are unique in the industry. As the name implies they are “operations” centers dedicated to contract mission support with resulting performance standards and established/effective quality assurance processes. These centers are organized based upon operational best practices facilitating communication and streamlining the decision making process. The TOC eliminates program risk and drives mission results—by enabling Salient to determine with absolute certainty which people precisely meet customers’ requirements.
Salient Talent Operations deliver what others cannot—immediate program progress and results after award. Most companies use the same old recruitment method. They start reviewing resumes after award and hope for the best. As the customer, that strategy often presents you with a bad choice of trying to get started quickly with whoever’s available or wait indefinitely to get the right people for the job.
Salient has a holistic approach
We don’t wait until award to start discovering people. Instead, with our Talent Operations process, certified specialists, and dedicated facilities we proactively manage a talent pool of more than 650,000 identified and known candidates.
We’re constantly engaged with our candidates—long before, during, and after award—and then, even beyond. We don’t just know their resumes. We know their preferences, their career goals, their strengths, their weaknesses, and their idea of fun, even their spouses’ names and their kids’ birthdays. We know them—personally, as well as professionally.
Because we talk to them regularly about all these things, we know with absolute certainty which candidate has the perfect skills, experience, and attitude to meet your specific requirements. This is what we bid in our proposals: real people who precisely fit your needs, who are ready with contingent offers to get to work if you should entrust us with your program.
Constant candidate quality
Talent Operations isn’t just about getting the right people right after award. It’s also about keeping the right skills and experience in place throughout the duration of your program. Our process ensures we quickly provide any personnel on your program with a commensurate level of quality.
We can do this because the over 450,000 candidates in our Talent Operations database have capabilities in more than 20 labor categories and skill areas. The talent evaluation process and dedicated facilities enable Salient to develop comprehensive knowledge of candidates’ skills, expertise, and strengths, as well as their backgrounds, professional goals, and personality traits A large percentage have certifications. All have verified degrees. All have been pre-interviewed and sometimes tested to verify their technical abilities.. Many have taken advantage of career development programs while employed with Salient.
The result is results
Talent Operations is proven. It’s been producing measureable results for customers for more than five years—because it’s embedded in our operations and commanded by mission professionals; it’s not an HR function. It’s designed to provide the agility we (and our customers) need to accelerate mission impact. The formula is simple: Only the right people touch your program. They start working sooner. They have exactly the right skills so they do exactly the right things, right from the start; mitigating just about every type of risk your program faces.
None of this happens by accident
Salient has made substantial, careful investments in dedicated processes, procedures, people, and facilities for Talent Operations. Our Talent Operations Centers, or TOCs, are the cornerstone of our talent management process. We have three TOCs across the country. The sophistication of our newest facility in Fairfax, VA approaches that of a large network operations center or trading floor. There’s a buzz as a roomful of Talent Operation Specialists work the phones at stations equipped with dual flat-screen displays. A large video wall tracks progress toward fulfilling requirements.
Very few qualify to work in our Talent Operations Centers. They’re staffed by carefully selected Talent Operations Specialists. Less than 1% of applicants for the job of Talent Operations Specialist ever win that title. Each must undergo extensive training to earn and maintain their Talent Operations certification. These are assertive, initiative-taking individuals with superb communication skills. They train constantly. They’re held accountable for results in twice-daily stand-up meetings.
And those results are impressive. Where other companies can take months to fill positions, our turnaround for both new hires and successors is two weeks or less.
We’re always ready to serve
Our process is nimble and fast, not bureaucratic. We don’t just have resumes, we have pre-existing relationships. When we add team members to a project, we keep them there. Through our professional development programs, we retain employees to ensure consistency in the quality we deliver.
The bottom line is we’re squarely focused on fulfilling your requirements. There’s only one way to do it consistently—We get the people right. We get the program right. Every time. Every program. Every day.
