In a security breach, no amount of Chanel #5 will cover it up…

Every day there are a flurry of news articles detailing the latest cyber security breaches within corporate and government IT networks. Lots of commentary is offered by experts reprimanding these enterprises for not defending their information. But it isn't so simple. We exist in a complicated technology ecosystem. A mix of legacy and new systems contain a woven assortment of classified, personal and other information. These networks are supported by engineers of varying levels of training and certification.

To fix the fundamental issues, enterprises need a clear plan for the future to systematically address where they are headed. One area of increasing vulnerability is the transition to IPv6. Many corporate networks and all US government networks are in the midst of transitioning to the new Protocol. Today we are already seeing many different types of IPv6 attacks including router header, IPv6 tunnels, DNS queries and rogue router advertisements. These are complicated issues to address and organizations are just trying to keep their heads above water.
